O.W.L.S Magical Readathon ✨

It's time to return home to Hogwarts and take our O.W.L.s!

The Magical Readathon is finally here! This readathon was created and is hosted by G from Book Roast, and mimics the wizarding tests from the iconic Harry Potter series.
This Magical Readathon is perfect for creating the dream of attending Hogwarts. This readathon is split into two different parts: the Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.L.s) and the Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests (N.E.W.T.s). All the technical details and how-tos of this readathon can be found on the Magical Readathon website.

The run-down version of the O.W.L.s is that you choose a career from the extensive list and you read books based on the subjects required by your chosen career to pass your O.W.L.s  One book for every prompt and you cannot double up on any prompts.

This year I set my sights on becoming a Spellmaker. I primarily chose it because the actual career intrigued me and the list of subjects are not too overwhelming. I have seven books to read for my seven subjects which are:

  • Ancient Runes: Read a book with a heart on the cover or title
A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer
  • Arithmancy: Read a book outside of your favourite genre
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson
  • Astronomy: Read a book primarily at night
Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
  • Charms: Read a book with a white cover
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
  • Divination: Use a random number generator to pick your book
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
  • History of Magic: Read a book featuring wizards/witches
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
  • Transfiguration: Read a book/series featuring shapeshifting
Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

I'm incredibly excited for this readathon and I cannot wait to "become" a Spellmaker. Procrastination will not stop me from reading all the books!
